Here are some of the exciting projects that Earth Island Institute welcomed into its fold over the past year:
The Mississippi Farm to School Network connects farmers with schools to bring fresh Mississippi products to school cafeterias. The nonprofit seeks to strengthen the local agricultural economy and educate Mississippians on the importance of eating locally grown, nutritionally dense foods.

Guias Unidos works to inspire community-based, conservation-minded tourism by connecting local and international experts, and building resources. In Nicaragua, the project conducts training sessions with local guides, builds environmental education programs with local schools, and encourages women and girls to consider guiding as a career.
A multigenerational, youth-led organization, Seeding Sovereignty empowers Indigenous youth leaders through practical skill development in digital media and advocacy. The project aims to support a just transition away from fossil fuels, and focuses its work on the principles of unity, solidarity, justice, sharing, and respect.
Based in the stunning Point Reyes National Seashore, Conservation Kids is all about connecting the next generation of young adults with the environment through the use of photography. The project leads youth on nature-based photography trips through which they learn how to use professional photography equipment to capture the natural world around them.
Green Schoolyards America inspires and enables communities to enrich their school grounds and use them to improve children’s well-being, learning, and play while contributing to the ecological health and resilience of their cities. The project advocates richly layered outdoor environments in which natural systems are prominent, and empowers Americans across the country to become stewards of their local environments.
Ecovet Global brings a veterinary lens to global development challenges that impact animals, humans, and ecosystems. The project partners with organizations and communities around the world to improve the health of both domestic and wild animals as a means of improving food security, public health, animal welfare, and conservation work.
The arts offer a powerful catalyst for the awakening of a new society based on caring for others and the natural world. Planet Earth Arts brings a community of artists from all disciplines into partnership with scientists, public-policy leaders, universities, and nonprofit organizations in service of a world where people thrive and nature flourishes.
