Cultivate Oregon joined several other organizations as co-plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the United States Department of Agriculture over its withdrawal of the Organic Livestock and Poultry Practice Rule. The rule would have strengthened the regulations for the care and well-being of animals on organic farms. Most notably, it would have established clear minimum spacing requirements and specified the quality of outdoor space that must be provided for organic poultry. Co-plaintiffs sought immediate implementation of the final rule and its improved livestock care standards. This case was decided on summary judgment.
