Berkeley, CA (June 14, 2023) — Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA), a global organization dedicated to empowering women’s leadership to safeguard the environment and their communities, is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with L’Oréal Paris to support women’s grassroots and social entrepreneurship development.
Through this partnership with WEA and Ashoka, the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs, L’Oréal Paris will invest €10 million in women-led environmental and climate projects by 2023, to accelerate these initiatives and enhance their visibility and impact.
“This multi-year partnership will enable WEA to accelerate our long-standing work to equip women leaders around the world with the skills, tools, funding, and alliances they need to address the climate crisis,” said Melinda Kramer, co-founder and co-director of WEA. “With L’Oréal Paris’s partnership, we can bridge the critical resource gap that many grassroots environmental leaders face, and amplify the power of women’s climate leadership to protect our Earth and ensure healthy, thriving communities now and into the future.”
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Women’s Earth Alliance to support women entrepreneurs and their groundbreaking initiatives for the planet,” said Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, global brand president of L’Oréal Paris. “Women are exceptionally well-positioned to fight climate change and provide the necessary adaptation solutions. As the primary victims of climate change, they are also the first contributors to social and environmental action. This is why L’Oréal Paris, true to its roots, has made it its mission to support women entrepreneurs who develop environmental projects and lead initiatives as agents of social and climate action.”
WEA, a project of Earth Island Institute, has catalyzed more than 25,000 women-led environmental projects in almost 30 countries since its founding in 2006. With L’Oréal Paris’s support, WEA will leverage its robust network infrastructure to quickly and effectively funnel resources to environmental justice leaders around the world, ensuring distributed and sustained impact throughout tens of thousands of communities.
