Brenda Marie Curtis Burris, commonly referred to as “Nana” or Mamma Duck “58, left her loving family on Friday, January 14, 2022, after a quiet battle with cancer, at the age of 58.

Brenda was born in Winchester, VA to Dorothy and Glenn Curtis, Sr., and chose to raise her family in Bunker Hill, WV. Brenda raised three daughters in her lifetime and was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Burris and her father, Glen Curtis, Sr. She leaves behind her three daughters, sons-in-law and eight grandchildren, including Angie and Eric Pittinger. and their children Arianna Pittinger, Thomas Pittinger, Amy and William Basore and their children Alessa Zombro, Neveah Zombro and William Basore, Jr. and Sarah and William Javage and their children, Michelle Javage, Brenna Javage and Jase Javage

Brenda was one of six children and is survived by four brothers, Glenn Curtis, Jr., Bill Curtis, Joe Curtis and Tim Curtis, as well as a sister Becky Ridenour and numerous nieces and nephews. She is survived by her mother.

Brenda has dedicated her life to being a mother, friend, confidante and grandmother. She cared about everyone who walked through her door, related or not, and later in life she was proud of her grandchildren, adoring them ridiculously. She always found time for someone when they needed to talk and was always ready to help. She loved traveling to different places and trying different foods, as long as it didn’t require flying and she was always up for a road trip. She left a beautiful mark on this world and all who were lucky enough to spend time with theirs. She will be missed every day.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Brenda requested that donations be made to the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia at https://www.childhswv.org/donate to help the children find a home and a place where they can find family that everyone deserves. .
