St. Luke’s Annual UMC Pie Sale

MARTINSBURG — Orders are now being taken for homemade pies from St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. These pies are baked by church members from scratch and then supplied frozen. Apple, blueberry, cherry, peach and ground meat pies are $10. These pies will be available throughout the summer months and into the fall.

Several local agencies benefit from the benefits of the project, including CCAP/Loaves and Fishes, Warm the Children, Rescue Mission, Shenandoah Women’s Shelter, Meals on Wheels, Panhandle Home Health and Habitat for Humanity.

The fishing festival returns

SHEPHERDSTOWN – The Shepherdstown Peach Festival returns on Saturday August 13 at New Street United Methodist Church, 202 West New St. This year includes takeout orders only. Plan to pre-order by calling or texting one of these contacts: 304-396-5244, 304-671-4590, or 304-261-2384. Pre-orders will be taken between August 5th. Walk-ins are welcome on the day of the festival as long as items are available.

You will request your pickup time when placing your order, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pick up and payment by cash or check will be in the church yard on New Street. Menu choices include many of the same great home-cooked meals as in previous years and can be found with prices on the website www.newstreetumc.com and Shepherdstown’s Facebook sites. Enjoy a sliced ​​peach pie or a large pie, accompanied by a peach crisp and homemade peach and vanilla ice cream. Also available are delicious sandwiches – country ham, chicken salad, hot dogs, steamers and steamer dogs.

Birthday scheduled for July 31

CHARLES TOWN — The House of Prayer Church of God will celebrate the 24th pastoral anniversary of its pastor, the Reverend Dr. Paul E. Brown. Bishop Francis S. Myles, prelate of the House of Prayer Churches, will be the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. in-person worship July 31 at 501 West Congress St., Charles Town. Everyone is welcome.

Wardrobe held on Thursdays

MARTINSBURG — Second Baptist, located on High Street in Martinsburg, is reopening its clothes closet from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at 913 N. St., Martinsburg. It will distribute food baskets on the third Thursday of the month.

WACC clothing closet offered every Thursday

MARTINSBURG — The Winchester Avenue Christian Church Clothes Closet is open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of July, August, and September, with free clothes for men, women, and children. The church is located on the corner of Winchester Avenue and Stephen Street. Use the entrance on Stephen Street. To make clothing donations, call Kathy at 304-229-8825.
