Edward Eugene “Ed” “Gene” Grove, 94, of Martinsburg, passed peacefully in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 10, 2021, as a patient at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV,

Born July 22, 1927 in Berkeley County, one of five children, he was the son of the late Edward Oral Grove and Ann Odessa Bohrer Grove.

Ed graduated from Martinsburg High School. He served in the United States Navy. Ed retired from EI DuPont as Maintenance Supervisor, where he had the opportunity to travel to Johannesburg, Africa, as a representative of DuPont.

He was a life member of Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, serving as both deacon and past emeritus.

He was president of the Blue and Gray Barbershop Chorus. He and the Choir have had the honor of performing at the White House twice.

For many years Ed was well known and sought after by many in our community as a seller and repairer of Electrolux vacuum cleaners.

Known for his comedic humor, he always entertained those around him with a series of funny jokes, his memory of such being phenomenal.

Ed is survived by his wife, Shirley. He was the father of a surviving son and two daughters: Dennis Eugene Grove and his wife Darla, Belinda Schiavoni, and her husband, Robert “Bob”, and Tammy Hamilton and her husband Scott. He was a grandfather of eight grandchildren: nine great grandchildren and uncle with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife, Ruby Ward Grove; three daughters, Melissa Jo Grove, and twins Nancy Hendrix Grove and Robin Hendrix Grove and four siblings; Ruth V. White, Jane M. Waters, Dorothy L. Jackson, and Nancy C. Hilliard.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church prior to the service.

The funeral will be on Thursday, December 16 at 11 a.m. at the church with the Reverend Jerry Mead as celebrant. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
