Kevin Carter Hagberg 1958 – 2022

Springfield, IL—Kevin Carter Hagberg, 64, died of natural causes on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Springfield, IL.

He was born at Memorial Hospital in Springfield on February 25, 1958, to Dr. Carter E. Hagberg and Jean Lundberg Wright.

Kevin graduated from Springfield High School, in 1976. He attended ORU in Tulsa, OK, then earned a BS in Business Management from SIU in Carbondale, IL, and a BS in Music Management from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT.

Kevin spent most of his adult life in Salt Lake City, UT, where he enjoyed spending time in the mountains and desert landscapes near Moab. As the keyboardist and lead singer of the local reggae band, Zion Tribe, for over 20 years, some of his fond memories include opening for Ziggy Marley and attending annual parties for the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club. . He was predeceased by his mother, Jean Lundberg Wright.

Kevin is survived by his father, Dr. Carter E. Hagberg, of Springfield, IL; brother, Craig E. Hagberg of Salt Lake City, UT; and her sisters, Lori J. (Rick) Grigsby of Chesterfield, MO, and Debra L. Hagberg of Springfield, IL.

Celebrations of Kevin’s life will be held in SLC, UT and Springfield, IL—dates TBD.

Cremation was provided by the Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
