Dr. Leonard L. Anderson, of Bridgewater, passed away on August 9, 2021, at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Concetta (Vozzella) and Everett F. Anderson. Leonard, better known as “Len”, was born in Boston and raised in Roxbury. He graduated from Boston Latin High School in 1952 and was accepted to Harvard University, where he would study biology and graduate from Class of 1956. He received his Masters from Boston University in 1963. In 1974 , he received his DSC from the University of Sussex. Len was drafted into the US Army in 1957 and served in Big Red 1 as Crypto Intelligence Spec 4. Len met and married Bernadette (judge) in 1961. He spent his early professional years in research in oncology and later as Director of Clinical Medicine Laboratory. He is co-author of scientific articles published in Annals of Surgery, Cancer Research, Nature, Clinical and Experimental Immunology: book chapter, Professional Societies: New York Academy of Sciences, American Federation for Clinical Research, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science Sigmi Xi Scientific Research Honorary Society. Len was the loving husband of Mr. Bernadette (Judge) Anderson. Father of Eric D. Anderson and his wife Sandra of Rockland, of Lauren R. McQuillan and her husband James of Middleboro, and of the late Christine Anderson. Grandfather of Sarah, Erica, Keira and Alia. Brother of Richard M. Anderson of NH and the late Kenneth Anderson. Len is also survived by his nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Visiting hours will be Thursday, August 12, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Bridgewater, in the Prophett Memorial Chapel at 98 Bedford Street. A funeral service will be held the next day, Friday, August 13, at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, 103 Center Street in Bridgewater.
