MUNISING, MI – Liam Ethan Gauthier, 23, of Munising, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
He was born on September 1, 1998, in Marquette, Michigan, to Kristoffer and Alison (North) Gauthier. Liam grew up in Munising and loved to play youth hockey and soccer. He was a member of the Munising High School class in 2016. He loved snowboarding, skateboarding and had a lifelong passion and gift for art and music. Liam also deeply respected his tribal heritage as a member of the Sault Ste. Marie tribe of the Chippewa Indians. Liam was a steadfast advocate for women and championed equal rights for all. As a type 1 diabetic, he was a firm believer in advances in diabetes research and was always up to date with the latest scientific advancements. He truly believed in helping anyone who needed it and was a big supporter of Teaching Family Homes. He was truly loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to know him.
He is survived by his parents – Kris and Alison Gauthier of Munising; sister and best friend – Katy Gauthier of Munising; brother and best friend – Kalvin Gauthier of Munising; grandparents – Robbie and Robert Gauthier of Kentucky and Kathy and John North of Wetmore; great-grandmother – Sue Gauthier of Munising and Florida; nephews – Noah and Oliver; uncles and aunts – Erin Gauthier, Lucas Gauthier, Bill (Heather) Nord and Melissa (Peter) Carlson, as well as many cousins and friends.
Visiting time with family and friends was Wednesday, December 22, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visiting time will end with a service where friends and family can share memories about Liam. Please wear your favorite band / music, the Red Wings or the Miami Dolphins. If you can’t, please do something kind for someone in their honor.
