Pastor David Edgar Caplinger, 67, of Martinsburg returned home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Berkeley Medical Center.
Born November 9, 1954 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Rev. Austin J. Caplinger and Nola Halterman Caplinger.
Before retiring as a water and sewer contractor, he was pastor of the House of the Lord Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Morris Caplinger; children, Bruce Whetzle, Andrea Whetzle, Carol Aikins (Eric), Joe Cool (Melody), Jenny Williams (John); grandchildren, Chelsie Smith, Shane Cool, Gary Smith, Trey Barrett, Matt cool, Annie Barrett, Mariah Cool, Lindsey Williams, Brandon Williams, Holly Rodgers, Heather House and Christopher House; great-grandchildren, Shailyn Cool, Rowan Smith, Robin Miller, Julian Henson-Smith; sisters, Shirley Butts, Bonnie LeHew (Rodney); brothers, Austin Caplinger (Bonnie Sue) and Jeff Everhart; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents died before him; stepmother, Geneva Caplinger; brothers, Robert Caplinger and Randy Everhart; sister, Arvela Collins; and great-grandson, Jaxson Faulkner.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the House of the Lord with Joe Cool as celebrant. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. before the church service.
