Philip C. Ropp Philip C Ropp, 91, of Martinsburg, WV died September 16, 2022. Born September 19, 1931 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Harry B. and Jane Ridgeway Ropp. He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1949, then went to the University of Virginia where he earned a degree in chemical engineering on an ROTC scholarship. He served in the United States Navy for four years as a pilot. He worked at Melpar, Corning Glass Works, and was best known as the owner/operator of The Pizza House for over 20 years with multiple locations including Martinsburg and Inwood, WV. During his retirement years, he was an active adventurous man who loved to travel the country, always planning the next exciting destination and experience. He lived his life to the full. As he would say “In this busy world you have to stop and smell the roses”. He loved God, his family, his friends and so much more. He taught us to work hard, to be honest, and that living a godly life was the best of happy lives. He had such strong faith in God, obeying the gospel, being baptized for the remission of sins according to the Scriptures: Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16 and 1 Peter 3:21. He lived faithful until death; Revelation 2:10. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Phil never met a stranger and he always treated people like family. He was a mentor to so many people, those who worked for him at The Pizza House, his family and everyone whose life he touched. He was predeceased by his first wife, June Condrey Ropp, his son David Ropp, his brothers Ivan, George, Charles and Wade Ropp, his sisters Mary Jane Leith and Amelia Ashton. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn June Poisal Ropp of 42 years, his daughters Linda Norris (Mark) and Cindy Kontz (Lee), his sons, Todd Grimm (Melanie) and Travis Coleman. Grandchildren include Keith Ropp, Chad Pullen (Heather), Tiffany Johns (Roy) Brandon Kerns (Kara), Chelsea Grimm, Charlsie Grimm and Logan Coleman. He had many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with family and friends will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV on Thursday, September 22 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday, September 23 from 1-2 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Rosedale Funeral Home on Friday, September 22. 23, at 2 p.m. with Dwane Casteel as referee.
