Raymond F. Gano | Obituary


Raymond “Mutt” Francis Gano, 95, of Martinsburg, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Elmcroft Assisted Living.

Born January 20, 1926 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Richard M. & Elsie Marie (Busey) Gano.

Raymond was a US Navy veteran. He served in Air Corp Fleet Air Wing 4 and in the Aleutian Campaign during World War II.

He graduated from the Martinsburg High School class in 1945. He was a member of AARP and A&P Lunch Brunch. He was employed by Corning Glass as a kiln worker for 28 years.

He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He belonged to the Men’s Bible class and was one of the teachers in the class.

He is survived by his son, Mark Scott Gano (Brenda) of Pensacola, Florida; daughter, Margo Davis (Jerry) of Romney, WV; many grandchildren; and one brother, Roland “Sam” M. Gano.

He was predeceased by his wife, June “Hoppie” Evans Gano; two brothers, Gerald Gano and Charles R. Gano; sister, Blanche M. Newkirk .; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
