You are not of the world – Part 6

Key Verse: John 17:16, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (RSV) You cannot come to church and live for the devil. You cannot serve two masters, Jesus said in Matthew 6:24. You have to choose who to serve, and that was the subject of Joshua’s talk to the tribe of Israel. Joshua told them in Joshua 24:15, “Choose today who you will serve, either the gods that your ancestors served in the area beyond the river or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live. But Joshua said, “For me and my house we will serve the Lord.” When I was in the Union for the Scriptures (SU), I was the secretary. We used to sing a beautiful song: “Choose today who you will serve.” As for me, I will serve the Lord. It’s a choice. I am happy to tell you that as a pastor I have made my choice. My joy is not in any position that I occupy; my joy is to be a child of God. I made my choice and everyone should make their own. Moses was speaking to Israel and said, “Today I have set before you life and death, blessing and curses. Choose the life you live ”(Deuteronomy 30:19). I made my choice. I saw Satan; I saw demons; I have seen evil spirits, I see sin everyday and sin is everywhere everyday, but I made my choice. I have decided to choose Jesus and I do not apologize for it. I stand as a child of God and want to go deeper and deeper into the Lord as he leads me to go. You too should make your choice. I am a pastor and among the pastors, I made my choice. Not all pastors are the same. There are good pastors and there are bad ones. There are ugly pastors, but I chose to be one of the good ones, and each pastor makes his choice. There are different types of church members, so take your pick. There are real members and there are hypocrites; there are liars; there are cheaters; make your choice, I made mine. Our job is to surrender ourselves – mind, soul, and body – to Christ as the chosen people, special people, special people, which will bring the testimony that we will be known for when we go there. You have to understand this: the moment you say that you are a child of God, it is no longer about you, but about Christ. John the Baptist got it right and said it in a very beautiful way and John the Apostle recorded it in John chapter 3. When they asked John a lot of questions he simply answered them in John 3:26 -30. In verse 30, John said, “Jesus must increase and I must decrease. Jesus must increase and you must decrease. People should always see Jesus in you. It is Jesus that they will continue to see in your life, because the Bible says we are to grow in faith, grace, and knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. If people don’t see Jesus in your life then you missed him and if people don’t see Jesus more and more in your life then you have failed. Jesus must grow. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch because people saw Jesus in their lives. So let your life be filled with Jesus. Leave no room for the devil. • Today’s nugget: May your life be filled with Jesus. Prayer: May my life be more and more filled with Jesus. Prayer lines: 08054477940. E-mail: [email protected] Rev.
